On September 3, the JCCF sent a letter to Alberta’s Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, Mr. Jonathan Denis, urging him to introduce legislation to amend Alberta’s Human Rights Act. Currently, Section 3 of the Act uses broad language to empower the government of Alberta to limit the right of Albertans to speak openly on controversial matters. Section 3 limits speech far beyond the legal limits imposed by Canada’s Criminal Code, where such restrictions belong.

Please email Minister Denis at calgary.acadia@assembly.ab.ca and urge him to change this unjust law.

Sign the Petition for Free Expression to encourage the governments of Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia to amend their Human Rights Acts to protect free expression for all Canadians.
